The Whitsundays will once again come alive with festivities and fun when the Worlds Most Wondrous Sailing events arrive, for the Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival in January 2020.
Airlie Beach will host the eleven identical 70-foot ocean racing yachts, their Skippers and their international crew and supporters in the final stop of the Australian leg of the internationally renowned and spectacular Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. The Clipper 2019-20 Round the World Yacht Race started in London at the St. Katharine Docks marina in September 2019 and sails to Portugal, Uruguay, South Africa, Australia, China, Philippines, USA, Panama, Bermuda Northern Ireland, finishing back in London in early August 2020. The Clipper Race offers a truly unique global marketing platform for corporations, destinations and brands.
The Whitsundays are the location for the start of the Asia-Pacific Challenge Leg 4 of the 2019-20 edition. The carnival will be a one week long celebration of vibrant events and activities showcasing the beauty of The Whitsundays.
In the idyllic location of The Whitsunday in the Heart of the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays Clipper Race Carnival will feature signature events such as a long lunch on the iconic Whitehaven Beach, a rodeo on the foreshore of Bowen, a welcome party in the center of Airlie Beach and Clipper Race Team Building Sailing Experiences.
